The Iberian Cup in Petanca, which was suspended for ten years, will return on the 25th and 26th of August. The competition will have the presence of 36 athletes representing Portugal and Spain.

This competition will bring together teams from both countries, in men's and women's, in the triplet category.

The event "fits the internationalization policy" of this sport, "carried out by the Portuguese Federation of Petanque (FPP), with the objective of giving greater visibility to the sport and contributing to raising the competitive level of Portuguese athletes".

The Iberian Cup is an organization of the Petanque Federations of Portugal and Spain which «will be represented at the highest level and, following a summit, at the request of the FPP, which took place in Madrid recently».

At that meeting, «in addition to the agreement to resume the holding of the Iberian Cup, other issues of bilateral collaboration were discussed, which will be considered in the future», concludes the FPP.
