Katia Guerreiro joins the Orquestra Clássica do Sul for a concert at Festival F

Festival F starts this Thursday, the 30th, and runs until Saturday, September 1st

Katia Guerreiro and the Orquestra Clássica do Sul (OCS) come together to give a concert this Thursday, August 30th, at 19:30 pm, at Festival F, in Faro.

Festival F is the last stage on which the Orquestra Clássica do Sul will perform in the current season. On the first day of the event, the OCS concert has a special guest – Katia Guerreiro. Thus, Fado opens the program of three days of concerts.

“The voice and presence of Katia Guerreiro will not go unnoticed by the public who visit the F Festival Sé Stage, on August 30th”, says the OCS.

Accompanied by her musicians and the Orquestra Clássica do Sul, «the renowned Portuguese fado singer will dazzle in a unique show, in which Fado and classical music go hand in hand in a perfect symbiosis».

The concert will feature some songs from the fado singer's latest album, such as “Quero sing for the Moon”, “9 Amores” and “Até ao Fim”, as well as a selection of works by renowned composers. Orchestral direction is under the responsibility of conductor Rui Pinheiro.

But the participation of the Orquestra Clássica do Sul in Festival F does not stop there. On Friday, August 31st, two groups of musicians will present the chamber music concert “Sounds of the New World”, at Sé Catedral, at 19:30 pm. It will be a more intimate moment, as is usual in this kind of show.

On the last day of the festival, on the 1st of September, the orchestra will once again perform in its full line-up for “Sonhos de Verão”, directed by conductor José Eduardo Gomes. From 19:30 pm, inside the Cathedral of Faro, works by G. Bizet, E. Grieg and F. Mendelssohn, among others, can be heard.

The Orquestra Clássica do Sul thus ends the current season, returning in October with a new program and initiatives and continuing its work to promote classical music in the south of the country.
