João César inspires accordion festival in Portimão

The accordionists Andreia Sofia Rodrigues, Daniel de Matos, João Bentes and Luís Mira will take the stage

Alameda da República will host another edition of the João César Accordion Festival, on Saturday, August 18, at 21 pm.

The event will feature accordionists Andreia Sofia Rodrigues, Daniel de Matos, João Bentes and Luís Mira, as well as the special participation of singer Cecília Valentim.

This festival aims to promote an art with a lot of tradition in the Algarve, while keeping alive the memory of João César «who contributed so much to honor the name of Portimão and its citizens», according to the Parish Council of Portimão, which organizes the event in partnership with Rádio Alvor.

«Considered an icon of music in the Algarve, João César, was born in Portimão, on April 14, 1943. He began playing solo at the age of 16, and also in musical groups, performing in hotels and ballrooms, all over the country”, having collaborated “with all the groups of musical expression of its land”, describe the organizers of the event.
