Catarina Martins, coordinator of the Left Block, believes that “more needs to be done to support all the people” who were victims of the Monchique fire. This afternoon, the Blocist deputy visited the burnt areas in that municipality and asked for support for "the most vulnerable people, who depend on informal family farming."

Catarina Martins says that these people «need some kind of support, we can't leave them in a vacuum and that doesn't seem to be taken care of right now», with support already announced by the Ministry of Agriculture.

Alongside the «immediate support, in the reconstruction of houses and in animal feed», the coordinator of the Left Block also highlighted the importance of «starting the reforestation projects now, which will require a budgetary commitment from the State». The State Budget cannot "turn a blind eye to the country's reforestation needs."

Assunção Cristas, president of the CDS-PP, also visited this Tuesday, but in the morning, the municipality of Monchique.
