The Beach Club of the future five-star Grand House Algarve hotel, in Vila Real de Santo António, was inaugurated this Friday, the 5th of July. This is "the first step in the reactivation of the renovated Hotel Guadiana in the municipality of VRSA, which is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2018", according to the Vilarealense City Council.

The infrastructure inaugurated today, located in the Ponta da Areia area, will support those who will be the county's first five-star hotel. The future Grand House Algarve will have «31 rooms – 15 doubles, 3 junior suites and 13 single rooms – and the configuration of a boutique hotel», revealed Marita Barth, general director of this hotel unit.

In the view of the municipality, the opening of the Beach Club represents "a step forward in the process of redevelopment of the mouth of the River Guadiana, a strategic place for nautical tourism and a gateway to the Atlantic and the Mediterranean".

“All of this is good news for the economy. We are soon going to open the municipality's first 5-star hotel, which represents investment, economic dynamism and, above all, job creation, with 40 jobs», said Conceição Cabrita, president of the Municipality of VRSA.

The investment, in this case, «amounts to 3,9 million euros, of which 2,4 million were applied in the rehabilitation of heritage». This amount refers to the rehabilitation of the former Hotel Guadiana and the installation of the Beach Club.

For Conceição Cabrita, «the redevelopment of the Hotel Guadiana also represents the return to the city of a landmark building that allows for the combination of cultural tourism and the promotion of heritage, whose maximum exponent is the old customs building, recovered under the shelter. of the Jessica program, and which will be an extension of the hotel».

In parallel with the restoration of the Hotel Guadiana, «it is the intention of the VRSA municipality to transform the historic center of the city into a reference in tourist terms. an ambitious project that aims to convert three Pombaline properties, owned by the Chamber, into a Pousada de Portugal».
