The Câmara de Lagoa is testing the safety of 42 playgrounds in the municipality, many of which are located in basic schools and kindergartens.
The tests and technical evaluations of the municipal gaming and recreational spaces will take place throughout this week and "will determine aspects such as the critical drop height for impact-absorbing surfaces", according to the municipality.
«The test consists of the vertical release of a semi-sphere-shaped accelerometer, so that it hits the park's floor from different heights. The energy of this collision is transmitted to a computer that will process the data coming from the accelerometer and define its severity», described the Câmara de Lagoa.
