João Chagas, from Lusitano FC Triatlo/Frusoal, and Gail King, from CCD Intermarché de Lagos, were the absolute champions of the first edition of the Algarve Aquatlo Championship “Aquatlo O2”, which took place on Sunday, in Alvor. By teams, the winner was Louletano DC.

The competition had the participation of about a hundred athletes, who competed in the Algarve Championship, the open competition and a relay competition. Here, the Algarve Aquathlon Champions, absolute and by classes, were decided. The race was part of the Triathlon Circuit of the Algarve.

«The athletes completed, in sequence and without stopping, a swimming course of 750 meters and a running course of 5000 meters, in one of the most beautiful scenarios in the Algarve, between Praia de Alvor and Ria de Alvor», according to O2 – Associação Desportiva and Cultural de Portimão, which organized the event with the support of the Portuguese Triathlon Federation, Portimão City Council and Alvor Parish Council.

The organizing team was represented by five athletes, who achieved four podiums, with emphasis on the first place achieved by António Raposo in the V5 step.
