Activists spread "oil dirty money" at the Ministry of Environment

Protest action took place on the morning of Monday, July 16, against oil drilling in Aljezur

Climáximo activists, dressed as businessmen, entered the Ministry of Environment this Monday, July 16, to spread "dirty oil money."

This action, called “Your Profits vs Our Climate”, protesting against the oil hole in Aljezur, also contests the “promiscuity between the Government and the ENI/GALP consortium”.

Climáximo recalls, in a statement, "that the Government has a long list of decisions in favor of these oil companies."

"Despite the three unanimous public consultations against the scoop, the Government extended the ENI/GALP contract, which expired in 2017."

Despite the “thousands of participants in the last public consultation that demanded an environmental impact assessment (EIA)”, the Government also “exempt companies from the EIA and gave the green light for the drilling operation”, denounces Climáximo.

“There are values more important to society than the economic interests of multinationals. Your profits do not justify the destruction of our planet”, he adds.

One of the injunction, filed by the PALP, was again in force, as announced on 3 July, which prevents the « ENI/Galp consortium from carrying out work».
