Albufeira changes location for tuk-tuk and taxi rank

«Disorder and disorder» for residents and tourists is at the base of the decision

Albufeira Town Council has eliminated the tuk-tuk stop, located at Rua Manuel Bentes Júnior, and the taxi rank there.

The tuk-tuk stop moved to the car park to the south of Car Park P1, next to the Pau da Bandeira viewpoint.

The existing taxi rank was relocated to the east, next to the new tuk-tuk stop. With this measure, the Municipality of Albufeira says that it intends to «order the service provided by this type of transport and improve urban mobility in the municipality».

These measures were taken at a meeting on the 3rd of July and the decision is due to the fact that the tuk-tuk stop, near the Bairro dos Pescadores, is being “underutilized, causing inconvenience and disorder to residents and visitors alike”.

Also due to its very reduced use, the current Taxi Stand was relocated.

According to the municipality, "the alterations are duly marked in the places, and all steps have been taken to cause the least inconvenience".

José Carlos Rolo, mayor of Albufeira, explains that «the correct ordering of transport, with particular emphasis on tourist transport is fundamental for the municipality's image as an excellent destination».

The mayor considers that the Municipality is quite committed to issues of urban mobility, «it is equally important to provide new forms of displacement and enjoyment of the landscape and the municipality's heritage, creating the necessary conditions for Albufeira to increasingly assume a cosmopolitan destination , dynamic and touristically attractive».
