The University of the Algarve (UAlg) entered, for the first time, the list of the 250 best young universities in the world by the Times Higher Education (THE). O Young University Rankings 2018 THE's reviews the performance of higher education institutions created 50 years ago or less.

UAlg is one of the six Portuguese universities that make up this ranking, which includes 250 institutions from 55 countries, and achieved the maximum score in the indicator that assesses international projection.

This is one of the 13 ranking indicators, which are distributed over five major areas: the quality of teaching and research, citations of scientific articles produced, its relationship with industry and international projection. In evaluating the best young universities, the same parameters are used as THE world ranking.

“The THE list only indicates the exact place of institutions up to the 100th position, from which they are classified by large intervals, without hierarchy. UAlg debuts in this ranking between positions 151 and 200», revealed the Algarve university.

"This is excellent news for the University of Algarve, which next year will celebrate its 40th anniversary and thus see its international projection and the work developed in its various dimensions recognized", considered the dean of UAlg Paulo Águas.

The results can be consulted on the Times Higher Education website.
