Free and regular transport between hotels and the county's heritage. This is the objective of the Lower Guadiana Transport Network, which will come into operation from the 15th of July, in Castro Marim.

The presentation of this project, which the municipality of Castro Marim begins with its Blue Line for Heritage, was one of the highlights of the municipality's municipal holiday, which took place last Sunday, 24 June.

There were also tributes to athletes, clubs and associations in the municipality, who honor «the Municipality with the dedication, effort and dedication they put into their work», says the Chamber of Castro Marim.

One of the distinctions was awarded to the ARUTLA dance group, from Clube Recreativo Alturense, to the age group from 8 to 10 years old and to their teacher Laura Pook, in recognition of the 1st place conquered at the Albufeira Arts Festival.

O young athlete Amândio Sousa Rodrigues Norberto, from Leões do Sul Futebol Clube, was honored for the victory of the Triathlon X Terra, in the category of more than 70 years. From União Desportiva Castromarinense, in the 2017/2018 season, four teams stood out: the male Infant and Youth team and the female junior team, with the titles of district futsal champions and the male junior team, which won the Algarve Cup in Futsal.

From the Athletics section of the Clube Recreativo Alturense, there were several athletes who in their classes won the 2nd Algarve Road and Cross Country Athletics Circuit “Prof. Artur Lara Ramos”: Matilde Padrão (children), Tomás Fernandes (children), who also won the Regional Youth Kilometer, Joana Fernandes (beginners), Maria Rodrigues (youth), who also triumphed in the Regional Combined Competitions Championship, João Monteiro ( juniors), Jorge Nogueira (Under 23) and Diane Valentim (veterans 35). The male children's team was crowned Regional Champion of Corta Mato.

The Tall Martial Arts Club was also honored for the achievements of its Jiu-Jitsu and Judo athletes: judoka Gonçalo Antunes, 3rd in the cadet category, Denis Dinga, national Jiu-Jitsu champion in the Juvenile category, Rui Estevão, 3rd place in Jiu-Jitsu nationally, in the senior category, and Maik Verheij, national Jiu-Jitsu champion in the Cadet category.

In addition to these recognitions to athletes, the Castro Marim City Council also distinguished municipal officials with over 25 years of service and the Castro Marim Schools Group.

The solemn session, which took place at Casa do Sal, began with a musical interpretation by the Banda Musical Castromarinense, as the first official act with the new uniform, paid for by the City Council.

There was also the presentation of the new INEM (National Institute of Medical Emergency) vehicle, which will in future affect the new medical emergency post that will be installed in the village of Azinhal.

After the Blessing of the vehicles, the public was transported to the Old Primary School of São Bartolomeu do Sul for the inauguration of the “Estação d'Artes”, a new space in the municipality that will give rise to the activities of the Universidade do Tempo Livre, but also to new projects related to arts and crafts, in a space that seeks to combine tradition and innovation, welcoming artisans and young creative people.

According to the Chamber of Castro Marim, «it is intended that the “Estação d'Artes” can host training, gatherings and exhibitions related to crafts, ethnography, design, illustration, sewing, weaving, among others».

The day was also marked by the inauguration of the requalification of Rua da Arrancada, «an intervention long requested by the residents of Barrocal, a village belonging to the parish of Altura». In addition to the paving of the street, which used to be dirt, the water, sewage and rainwater infrastructures were built, which were justified.

Another highlight of the celebrations for the Day of the Municipality of Castro Marim, on the 24th of June, is the traditional and famous Arraial de São João, in Praça 1º de Maio, organized by the Municipality of Castro Marim. This festival, which gathers hundreds of people every year, has its ex-libris in popular marches, carried out by the Parish Council of Castro Marim and by the Banda Musical Castromarinense.

The fair was preceded by the opening of the exhibition of works by the Universidade do Tempo Livre (UTL) in the local market of Castro Marim, with the parade “Chapéus há muito…”, starred by the trainees.

At the end of the opening of the exhibition, the awards ceremony for the XVIII Masts Competition was held, which closes the Popular Saints in Castro Marim.

Ten masts were in the contest, fruit of the work of the following clubs and local associations: Sociedade Recreativa Banda Musical Castromarinense; Campesino Recreativo Futebol Clube; Parish Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary – Altura; Amendoeiras em Flor Cultural Association; Junqueira Club; Mito Algarvio – Association of Accordionists of the Algarve; Social Association Parish of Odeleite; Rio Seco Sports and Cultural Group; House of the People of Azinhal; Friends of Alta Mora Recreational Cultural and Sports Association.
