The Summer Solstice (in the Northern Hemisphere), which marks the beginning of the hottest season of the year, starts this Thursday, June 21st, at 11:07 am.

On this day, the Sun reaches its highest point in the sky (and spends the most time above the horizon) throughout the year.

Today, the sun in Bragança rises at 5:52 am and sets at 21:05 pm, while in Porto it rises at 6:02 am and sets at 21:11 pm. In Coimbra, the day lasts from 6:04 am to 21:07 pm, in Lisbon, from 6:12 am to 21:05 pm, and in Faro, from 6:12 am to 20:55 pm.

In the Madeira archipelago (Funchal), the sun rose at 07:00 and sets at 21:18. In the Azores (Ponta Delgada), it was born at 06:21 am and sets at 21:08 pm.

As for the weather, it's not very, very summer yet. The forecast for this Thursday, according to the website Meteophons, there is a possibility of sometimes strong showers and accompanied by hail and thunderstorm, especially in the North and Center.

In the south, the sky will be less cloudy. Temperatures will rise a little in the Algarve, with maximums around 28ºC around here and 32ºC in the Alentejo and 33ºC in the interior Centro. The wind will continue to blow moderately from the east.
