The secondary stages of the MED Festival, which takes place from the 28th of June to the 1st of July in the Historic Center of Loulé, will also feature world music and dances.

In addition to the main stages (Matrix, Cerca and Castelo), on these secondary stages there will be «a lot to hear, see, feel and experience», with music being «the point of union of countries, cultures or beliefs», says the Chamber of Loulé.

Attending a concert while tasting some traditional dishes from Morocco, Egypt, Italy or Brazil is the proposal of Palco Bica and Palco Arco. In Bica, in what is also known as the “backyard”, the program is born from a partnership between the Municipality of Loulé and the Casa da Cultura de Loulé, which has had a launching point for new artists and projects in this space.

At the start of the Festival, on June 28, the Brazilian project Primo will take to this stage, headed by Bruna Caram, singer, composer, actress, writer and singing teacher, and the Portuguese Vasco Ramalho, who takes to the stage “Essências de Marimba : Fados&Choros”.

On the second day of MED, the Bica program features two alternative music bands from Loulé: Badweather and Al-Khimia. On the closing night, the Spanish project Pólvora will be in this space, mixing spoken word recitals and lyrical pop with chillout instrumentals, as well as António Caixeiro, one of those responsible for the creation of the Grupo Coral Bafos de Baco da Cuba, revealing the importance of Cante Alentejano in new generations.

This year, the curatorship of the dancing nights at Palco da Bica will be handed over to the collective that is also the backbone of the Galician band Pólvora.

Through the baton of maestro Marcos de la Fuente aka Almagato, the public will receive the bodily perfume of the nights of the famous 'La Fiesta de los Maniquíes' (The Festival of Mannequins), an enigmatic and cultural place that marked several expressive aspects of the night in Vigo as a place for experimentation and conceptual animation.

The program is as follows: Almagato (World Music Dj Set), on the 28th; “Dancing Mannequins” – Almagato (Cool Beat DJ Set), on the 29th; “Digital Mannequins” – 2pas0s (Digital Live Set), on the 30th.

At Palco Arco, Nanook and Amar Guitarra are the resident artists who will liven up this space every day.

A space that will have taverns that will work with photovoltaic cells, where all the energy needed for its operation (lighting, refrigerators, ovens, coffee machines, etc.) will be solar. This is an initiative that earned a distinction from the “Sêlo Verde” Program.

The emblematic Jardim dos Amuados hosts a Stage dedicated to traditional music and dance, in which the sounds of the guest artists are accompanied by the beauty of the dances and the colorful costumes. This year, the Palco Jardim counts with the participation of Dhamar, from India (the 28th), Milo Ke Mandarini, from Spain (the 29th) and Iman Kandoussi Trio, from Morocco (30th).

In what is one of the novelties of this 15th edition of the MED Festival, the Palco Calcinha, installed in the cultural ex-libris of the city known for having been the place where the poet António Aleixo “wrote” much of his work, will feature a lot of poetry recited by people from Loulé, but also with musical moments, in a café-concert concept with singer Afonso Dias who will take his music to this space.

Finally, another of the proposals in this extensive musical program goes through the Mercado Stage, where Bruno Maliji, singer and composer from the Algarve, and Eduardo Ramos, singer and player of lute and other Arab, Portuguese and African instruments every day.
