JSD/Algarve “rejoices” with the proposal that will be presented to the Council of Ministers 30% reduction in the value of tolls for trucks in ex-SCUT, including Via do Infante, which is part of the package of incentives to the interior.

However, JSD recalls that «almost two years ago, precisely in July 2016, the PS Parliamentary Group announced that, temporarily, in the summer months, there would be an additional discount for trucks at night and on weekends. 15% and 30% respectively, which is why it is not “astronomical” news that now, 720 days later, the PS repeats at the “peak” of the problems affecting regional mobility, trying to stimulate the transfer of traffic from the EN125 to the A22 ».

JSD/Algarve also recalls that “if two years ago this package offered a temporary 15% discount to all vehicles, now the PS Government, with the support of BE and PCP, withdraws most of the Algarve from this measure”.

Carlos Gouveia Martins, president of JSD considers that «for those who have a good memory, this is all very curious because we have a prime minister who, in his campaign, promised to reduce the toll price by 50% and, after two increases, he reduced it there. 15% during a few summer months in 2016. Now, two years later, thinking that the Algarve has already forgotten the “given word”, it comes with a 30% offer only for trucks».

“What JSD really liked was that the word was honored, but, above all, that the people from the Algarve who support this Government solution, together with us and the PSD, make the Government see that this is playing”, adds Carlos Gouveia Martins.

The JSD/Algarve leader quips that «because we have the best beaches in Europe, he excuses António Costa from sending us so much “sand for our eyes”».

The Political Committee of JSD do Algarve also said that it would challenge Deputy Minister Pedro Siza Vieira to, «once and for all, present to the region the study, which today's PS deputies for the Algarve defended having in 2015, and the "additional measures" for tolls in the old Scuts that after almost 800 days no one sees».
