Alexandra Rodrigues Gonçalves, regional director of Culture of the Algarve, reveals that «there is a change in the tourist who visits us», especially among those who visit the Algarve's monuments, under the tutelage of that body. Alexandra Gonçalves was this week's guest on the «Impressions» program, a partnership of Sul Informação with Rádio Universitária do Algarve (RUA FM).

But there is also a growing trend in visitors to the Algarve's monuments. The Sagres Fortress, in May alone, had more than 45 thousand visitors. “We already have 15% more [visits] compared to last year's numbers” in most of the Algarve's monuments, announced the regional director of Culture.

Alexandra Gonçalves, in her interview with “Impressões”, added that “a paradigm shift is beginning to be seen [in relation to the tourists who visit us and their preferences]. What we have written and announced, in terms of research, is happening in the Algarve».

As for heritage, the regional director of Culture admits that “there is still a lot to be done”, but “the investment always falls short of what is necessary”.

Listen to the full interview on the program «Impressions», this afternoon, at 19 pm, on FM STREET.
