A teachers' strike is canceling evaluation meetings in schools in the Algarve, such as Quarteira and Portimão.

O Sul Informação he knows that meetings were canceled at the Laura Ayres Secondary School, in Quarteira, as well as at the Bemposta and Poeta António Aleixo, in Portimão, due to the strike, called by the Stop (Union of all Teachers).

This is the first strike by Stop, the 23rd teachers union, which was created earlier this year.

The strike, which lasts until June 15, comes at a time of special importance, as it may delay the release of grades for students who are yet to take national exams.

As the Público newspaper explains, “at the heart of the union's claims is, as is the case with other unions, the way in which teachers' length of service is calculated after the unfreezing of career progressions. The unions demand that the 9 years, 4 months and two days in which their careers were frozen be counted (there was a first freeze period between 2005 and 2007 and a second between 2011 and 2017)».

Also the National Federation of Education (FNE) and the National Federation of Teachers (Fenprof) have already marked a strike on evaluations (both structures have demarcated themselves from this Stop protest). This strike starts on June 18, and lasts until the end of the month.
