Calema, Quinta do Bill and the Rancho de Cantadores da Aldeia Nova de S. Bento are confirmed names for the traditional Festas da Vila de Mértola that take place from 16 to 24 June.
On the 16th of June, in the churchyard at the Igreja Matriz in Mértola, at 22 pm, there will be a show with the fado singers António Pinto Bastos and Maria Armando, and on the following day, Sunday, at the same location, the presentation of the Islamic Festival of Mértola will take place with the presence of the Rancho de Cantadores da Aldeia Nova de S. Bento.
The Guadiana quay will host on the 22nd, at 23 pm, the Calema concert, followed by a ball, and on the 00rd, at the same time, the Quinta do Bill.
This year's program includes various cultural and sporting activities such as the plastic arts exhibition “Alentejo: Between the tales and the wind”, the Mértola cup, a fishing competition, a canoeing down the Guadiana river, À Noite do Mercado, a multimedia show on the Guadiana pier and river, a moped ride, the children's musical “Peter Pan” and a sardine socializing with a ball.
