A section, between the Floresta restaurant and the Vale do Lobo roundabout, of the road linking Vale do Lobo to Almancil, which is under construction, will open to traffic «until the end of June» so as not to harm the existing restaurants there.

The forecast has been advanced to Sul Informação by Vítor Aleixo, mayor of Loulé. Although the works are not "completely completed", the road will "be passable so that people can circulate normally", said the mayor to our newspaper. At the current intersection of the Floresta restaurant, a roundabout will emerge.

When the work was launched, the mayor confessed, there were some "complaints from the restoration" for fear that the project would affect normal summer activity, but, as the calendar "is being followed", the work "will not harm the people», he considered. In fact, the fact that the road is now passable, despite the fact that the work has not been completed, is intended not to affect the restaurants located along that section.

Even during the works, which included the replacement of underground infrastructure, widening of the road and its repaving, the section under construction was open, albeit with restrictions, only for access to the restaurants. Currently, as can be seen in the image, the repaving works are already largely ready and access, which remains conditioned, is now easier.

This contract is part of the general requalification work of the existing road, between Municipal Road (EM) 527-2 (Almancil-Quarteira road) and VNC 522 (Vale do Lobo-Quinta do Lago road), with approximately 2200 meters of extension, in which three roundabouts will be built.

The rest of the work has not started yet. According to Vítor Aleixo, "we are in the process of expropriating two parcels that are still missing."

«We are counting that, in September, at the limit of October, this work can be started», concluded the mayor of Loulé. In other words, only after the summer will there be more road work.

The work includes, in terms of underground infrastructure, the execution of the rainwater sewerage network, expansion of the water supply and domestic sewage networks, telecommunications network, public lighting and low voltage networks.

The estimated value of the entire work is around 2,1 million euros.
