Daniel Santana was reelected as president of the Algarve district structure of UGT – União Geral dos Trabalhadores, at the 3rd regional congress of this entity, held on June 2nd.

The re-elected president presented the action program “Dignified Work and Regional Unity”, which, according to UGT – Algarve, “aimed at combating precariousness at work and, simultaneously, the problem of abandoning the Algarve interior (Serra and Barrocal), presenting concrete proposals to alleviate the imbalances that have been growing between the interior and the coast».

«In this term, which begins today and will run until 2022, we intend to continue the proximity work developed with the workers of the Algarve, counting on the support of the affiliated unions that are the strength of UGT-Algarve in all union activity in the region», summarized Daniel Santana.

The regional structure of this trade union center ensured that "it will continue to demand better living conditions for workers in the Algarve and their families in view of the daily shortages that affect them essentially in terms of health and regional mobility – more public transport and better accessibility".

The closing of the congress was attended by Carlos Silva, secretary general of UGT.
