The 4th edition of the Algarve Minibasket Cup Tournament takes place on the 28th, 29th, 30th of June and 1st of July, in Faro, joining 40 teams.

The Algarve Minibasket Cup International Tournament of the Basketball School of the “Os Bonjoanenses” Football Club, from Faro, wants to provide «all participants, memorable days of sports and social interaction with the sharing of different experiences for all children, coaches, managers and companions», says the organization.

In order to broaden the event's dynamics and allow a broader knowledge of Faro, the 2018 edition, in addition to having the usual games at the Penha Municipal Pavilion and the D. Afonso III School, will also include the holding of games of street basketball, in downtown Faro, during the nights of the 28th, 29th and 30th of June.

The tournament will involve about 90 people from the Staff of the club “Os Bonjoanenses”, including directors, players, coaches and parents, in technical and logistical support, and will have the participation of 40 teams (about 500 athletes from the Under-8 levels, Under-10s and Under-12s of both sexes and 80 club staff members).

Given the age of the children involved (between 6 and 12 years), predominantly from the areas of Faro, Lisbon, Porto and Andalusia, «it is expected that, as in previous editions, there will be a great influx of entourages of parents and friends, bringing many visitors to the city», says the organization.

The tournament is organized by the Football Club “Os Bonjoanenses” Faro (Sports and Recreation Association, Public Utility Institution and non-profit organization, which was founded on May 4, 1935), together with the mini-basketball department of the club, whose technical manager is coach Nuno Martins.
