The University of Algarve (UAlg) was present, between the 3rd and 5th of May, at Educa Moçambique – International Education Fair and Conference, which took place at the Joaquim Chissano Conference Centre, in Maputo.

Once again, the University of Algarve disseminated its training offer to an international community. The Algarve Academy presented the institution, the courses given and addressed issues such as the cost of living and the support that foreign students can benefit from if they choose “Studying Where is Good Living”.

During the three days, students from secondary schools in Maputo were a constant presence at the event, having as their main interest the degree and master's courses. The language of instruction and the experience that the Algarvian Academy has in welcoming international students, which allows the student a unique academic experience, with great proximity between students and teachers, were determining factors for young Mozambicans to seek the UAlg stand.

On the first day, May 3, the UAlg stand was visited by Maria Amélia Paiva, ambassador of Portugal in Mozambique.

Also during that day, Nuno Bicho, coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Center for Archeology and Evolution of Human Behavior (ICArEHB) and member of the UAlg delegation that traveled to Mozambique, met with the Cooperation Office of the Eduardo Mondlane University, taking the opportunity to study new possibilities for joint cooperation between institutions.

During the event, UAlg also disclosed its vacation programs (short-term courses) aimed at international students. The "Summer Campus", for students up to 18 years old who intend to enter Higher Education, and the "Mid Season Campus", aimed at researchers and students already attending Higher Education, whose objective is to disseminate UAlg's advanced training in two distinct areas: Economics and Biology/Sea Sciences.

Educa Moçambique – International Education Fair and Conference had as target audiences students, educators, teaching professionals, education companies, cultural institutes, among others.

In its previous edition, in 2017, the event was attended by around 100 exhibitors and over 35 thousand visitors, of which 50% were candidates for higher education.

UAlg's participation is part of the “Algarve is Our Campus – Study and Research in Algarve” project, co-financed by the Algarve Regional Operational Program – CRESC Algarve 2020, through the Support System for Collective Actions – Internationalization, which aims to promote and to reinforce the notoriety and attractiveness of the University of the Algarve and the region, through the implementation of actions aimed at internationalization and the consequent increase in the number of international students, professors and researchers.

Every year UAlg «receives more than 1500 foreign students from more than 70 countries, which results in a unique opportunity for multicultural contact, offering students from this African country great advantages such as the quality of teaching, geographic proximity, characteristics natural resources and the culture of the Portuguese».
