Selecta Alice, Irmãos Makossa and Sampladélicos are the DJs who will heat up the nights of the 15th MED Festival, to be held from June 29th to July 1st, in the Historic Center of Loulé.

And if MED's premise is the music of the world, here they will also be heard, but with «an electronic expression», as the Câmara de Loulé explains.

Considered one of the pioneers and pioneers of World Music in DJ set in Portugal, Selecta Alice pays homage to it in its sets, the culture of celebration and the celebration of life through music and dance ritual.

The rhythms of Africa, Latin America, the Balkans and India are mandatory stops on your sound travels around the world. She is the curator of the Sacred Fire stage at the Boom Festival. «This is, therefore, a proposal not to be missed for lovers of more danceable sounds at this MED Festival», says the Loulé local authority.

On stage at MED, the Makossa Brothers, two friends, researchers of African music from the 70s and its influences, will also perform this year.

Yours DJ sets they are the story of a journey through Africa and how this continent influenced the musical world, told by the music extracted from the vinyls and CDs that fill their suitcases. The reference of this duo is Fela Kuti, creator of Afrobeat, Manu Dibango, Ebo Taylor, Tony Allen, Franco or Orchester Poly Rythmo from Cotonou (who performed in 2017 at MED).

The motto of this duo is “to celebrate, with a lot of joy and warm rhythms, one of the best things Africa has – music”.

The Sampladélicos – Tiago Pereira (documentary) and Sílvio Rosado (musician) – reach out to their roots and then fictionalize them, creating new contexts and other forms of life for them.

“His work is a staging based on the personal concepts of each one of what tradition and heritage are. The album was entirely created with recordings of Portuguese music liking itself since January 2011, without the use of synthesizers, drums and beats foreign. And, it would not be possible without the musicians and all the old ladies of this country, the players of violas, harmonicas, flutes, bass drums, adufes, whelks and palms».

These are three more names that join the poster of the 15th MED Festival. A poster that already includes Asian Dub Foundation (United Kingdom), Dub Inc (France), Morgane Ji (Reunion Island), La Pegatina and Vurro (Spain), 47 Soul (Palestine), Gato Preto (Mozambique/Ghana/Portugal) , Bonga (Angola), Los Milros (Peru) and the Portuguese Miguel Araújo, Orelha Negra, Sara Tavares, Gaiteiros de Lisboa, Teresa Salgueiro and Melech Mechaya.

The final poster will be presented at the Cine-Teatro Louletano, on the 26th of May, in a night that will feature a concert by Omiri.

Until the 24th of June, tickets for the MED Festival can be purchased here, at the following prices: daily ticket – 10 euros, festival ticket (access to the three days of MED) – 25 euros and daily family ticket (two adults and two children under 16) – 25 euros.
