The Garvão Fair, which took place from the 11th to the 13th of May in the municipality of Ourique, was a "success" that confirmed the "vitality of the rural world".

This success was evident «in agricultural exhibitions, exhibitors and the participation of thousands of citizens in the three days of the event, with a strong rural and popular component», says the Câmara de Ourique.

"The past, present and future were very present in the heartbeat of a people and a region determined to continue working so that the opportunities of the rural world are greater than the risks that, existing, have to be fought and minimized", adds the municipality.

This rural experience was present at the Garvonesa Breed Producers Meeting, in a highly participated 1st Alfeires de Porco Alentejano Competition, in the Rafeiro do Alentejo Garvão Regional Competition, in the Cante do Baldão Meeting and in the traditional bullfighting.

The “great popular participation” honored the traditions of Feira de Garvão as “the greatest stage of our ancestral connection to the countryside, animals, cork oak forests and productions, designing the event for the next edition in which it celebrates” 25 years.

This was even, probably, «one of the best editions of the Garvão Fair, vibrant in the sense of traditions, experiences and ambitions, in a joint effort of the Municipality of Ourique, the Association of Porco Alentejano Breeders (ACPA), of the Junta of the Parish of Garvão and Santa Luzia and of many participants and partners».

The XXIV Feira de Garvão «confirmed the vitality of our rural world, our sense of commitment to traditions and identity marks, in the dynamics of the present in the territory of Ourique and in the construction of a future with even more opportunities, solidity and capacity productive”, concludes the Chamber of Ourique.
