Entrepreneur from Portimão represents Algarve in the final of the world startup competition

Slawomir Derezuch, Del Media's CEO, will represent the Algarve in the final of “Get in the Ring”, the prestigious world competition of Startups, which takes place from May 30th to June 1st, in Cascais. 

“Get in the Ring” transformed, on the 1st of May, the Startup Portimão in a real boxing ring. 

Nine entrepreneurs participated in this competition – Tiago Pais (View Portugal), Miguel Gonçalves (NAU), Raquel Melo (Inboundware), Maria Nobre de Carvalho (For Good), José Costa Marques (PetDule), Tiago Fernandes (Effectivear) , Jorge Baptista (TrustFood), Maycom Soares and William Portilho (Skedeel) and Slawomir Derezuch (Del Media), not only from Startup Portimão, but also from other parts of the Algarve and the country.

Six entrepreneurs were pre-selected to enter the ring and compete in three rounds a battle for the best pitch, before a renowned jury, consisting of André Reis, from Escola Boxe Portimão, Catarina Marques Vieira, from Cascais European Capital of Youth 2018, Henrique Sim-Sim, from Alentejo of Excellence, Hugo Barros, from CRIA – Entrepreneurship and Transfer Division Technology from the University of Algarve, Natacha Saldanha Parreira, from Pluralo, and Paulo Pinheiro, from the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve.

In this initiative, which included the presentation and moderation by Jochem Cuppen, CEO of Get In The Ring, as well as Del Media by Slawomir Delezuch, startups NAU, by Miguel Gonçalves, from Coimbra, and PetDule, from Coimbra, also won a passport to the final. José Costa Marques, from Lisbon.

The winners of this competition in Portimão will have direct access to the Global Meetup 2018, taking place in Cascais between May 30th and June 1st, with the participation of more than 200 startups and 200 companies, investors and business leaders de todo o mundo.

In total there will be three days of workshops and thematic training sessions that will bring together startups, investors and business leaders from around the world with the main objective of opening new opportunities for startups, helping them to grow and become truly sustainable companies .

Slawomir Derezuch, the Polish entrepreneur who is developing the project to create mobile applications at Startup Portimão and one of the winners of Get in the Ring Portimão, was visibly enthusiastic about the victory, guaranteeing that he will be in the world final, together with 150 startups from all over the world, «competing for the project in a unique opportunity for global exposure and proudly representing Startup Portimão and the entire Algarve region».

For Miguel Gonçalves, «if our data is worth so much, if the advertising directed at us generates so much money, why don't we receive anything for it? To end this injustice comes NAU, with a disruptive business model that allows access to free and cost-effective mobile phones, as well as mobile applications that generate daily income for the user- “Start receiving your “NAU” share! ».

PetDule, by José Costa Marques, in turn, is a platform where all those who love pets can find services and products for their special family members, which will seek to offer quality and reliable services to all users.

“Get In The Ring” is an initiative for entrepreneurial ecosystems that is already present in over 100 countries and that connects startups so that they compete, in a real ring, and grow their business.
