The diagnosis is already done. Next comes the training, so that startups the Algarve may soon present their ideas to investors, the so-called Business Angels. A study that surveyed entrepreneurship in the Algarve, carried out under the Iberian project of cross-border cooperation Espoban, will be presented this Tuesday, May 29, at the Hotel Eva, in Faroat 14 pm.

The session is promoted by ANJE - National Association of Young Entrepreneurs, through its Núcleo do Algarve, one of the six institutions in the Algarve, Alentejo and Andalusia that are involved in Espoban, whose main objective is to create, by the end of 2019, an Iberian network in Business Angels.

“This study is the kick-off of the Espoban project. It will have the characterization of the development model, that is, the entrepreneurial capacity and the investment capacity that exist in the different regions, in this case, in the Algarve», she explained to Sul Informação Hugo Vieira, national director for the Algarve at ANJE.

This is the first of the three phases of the project. «In a second moment, we will proceed with the identification of business ideas or entrepreneurs, to give them training, mentoring and mentoring in the preparation of a business plan. We will also train these entrepreneurs to understand how they can have a pitch of success, when presenting your idea», said Hugo Vieira.

In the third phase of the project, the entrepreneurs will be «put in contact with the Business Angels», in order to find investors to take their ideas further.

With the Study of Analysis and Characterization of Entrepreneurship in the South of Portugal and Spain, which will be presented tomorrow, and the training that entrepreneurs will undergo, it is intended that this group of funders has, «from the start, a set of ideas in the which you can invest in, in the Algarve».

Basically, it is about «creating more critical mass», a work that Hugo Vieira has been trying to do since he took over as national director for the Algarve at ANJE, «also through interaction with others players, among which the CRIA of UAlg, which is the one with the greatest capacity to leverage the transfer of knowledge to the business sector».

«In the Algarve there is still very little critical mass, for the region's ability to import and export to be recognized startups. We want to create a new philosophy here: to create a network that can be gradually expanded," he told the Sul Informação ANJE's Algarve director.

With this in mind, in tomorrow's session, Tuesday, a round table will be promoted, «where we will seek to understand the future and debate the development of technology in the Algarve».

Not least because, stressed the national director of ANJE for the Algarve, the association does not want to «miss the boat».

“Many years ago we were pioneers in incubation and support for young entrepreneurs. We will continue to do this work, aimed at Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), but we cannot fail to look at this new way of entrepreneurship, which is closely linked to startups, which involves the technological value added to the creation of the business», he said.

The business association is working with CRIA, but also with the Câmaras de Loulé and Faro, to 'set up a regional incubation network'. At the same time, ANJE wants to deepen “the acceleration of companies”, in partnership with these entities.
