Three students from Loulé Secondary School, Francisco Rodrigues, Ruben Ferreira and Vasco Raminhos, from the Computer Systems Management and Programming Course, won the 2018 edition of the Topas Sul programming contest, held at the Department of Electronic and Informatics Engineering of the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Algarve, in Gambelas.

The contest, which took place this Friday, May 11th, simultaneously in Faro, Lisbon and Porto, was attended by 63 teams from 36 secondary schools.

In the Algarve, nine teams from four schools took part, in Lisbon 22 teams from 14 schools took part and in Porto, 32 teams from 18 schools. All students tried to solve the same 4 challenges for 7 hours.

The trio of students from the Secondary School of Loulé, accompanied by Professor Duarte Duarte, managed to reach first place. They were the only team in the Algarve to solve the 7 challenges proposed during the 4 hours of the competition.

In Porto, there were three other teams to find a solution to all the challenges, while in Lisbon, no team managed to solve the 7 challenges.
