“Gender Equality” is the theme of the literary competition promoted by the Municipalities of Odemira and Aljezur, within the scope of the Intermunicipal Plan “A Bridge for Equality”, with the aim of promoting reflection on the situation and participation and the role of women and men in today's society. Three unpublished works, in the short story literary style, will be awarded. Entries must be delivered by August 16th.

The Intermunicipal Plan for Gender Equality in the territories of Odemira and Aljezur “is based on the principle that municipalities are agents for promoting equality and non-discrimination, taking into account the role and responsibility they hold as organizations that promote local development », explains the Chamber of Odemira.

The works in the competition can only be presented in Portuguese language and cannot have been awarded in any other event, nor be pending decision in another competition.

All natural persons, regardless of nationality, aged 18 or over can apply. Each contestant may submit up to a maximum of three works, each of which must be assigned a different pseudonym.

Prizes will be awarded to the three best stories, worth 750 euros for first place, 500 euros for second and 250 euros for third. The award will be given on the 24th of October 2018, as part of the Municipal Day for Equality celebrations.
