The fado singer Carminho will give a concert on June 10, Day of Portugal, by Camões and the Portuguese Communities, at 21 pm, at Largo dos Paços do Concelho de Albufeira

The singer is going to Albufeira to present her latest album “Carminho Canta Tom Jobim”.

«Carminho, who was born amidst guitars and fado, is today an acclaimed voice, nationally and internationally, with three multi-platinum albums – “Fado”, “Alma” and “Canto” – which are unavoidable references in music», says the Albufeira Town Hall.

«With sales successes in Spain, Scandinavia or Brazil, his tours have passed through the most prestigious venues in Europe and the world».

His relationship with Brazil gave rise to his latest album, a tribute to Brazilian musician Tom Jobim, and features duets with Marisa Monte and Chico Buarque.

The 10th of June is the Day of Portugal, Camões and the Portuguese Communities. The national holiday marks the day of the death of Luís Vaz de Camões, in 1580, poet and author of Os Lusíadas, one of the most important works of Portuguese literature, which celebrates the maritime feats and warriors of Portugal.

The date is marked all over the country, and, in Albufeira, «Fado goes out into the street to remember the song of the Portuguese soul, which sings the longing, destiny, love and the daily hardships of our people ».

Admission to the concert is free.
