The WaterKings returns to Lagos, taking place on the 26th and 27th of May, at Meia Praia, and promises 12 straight hours of water sports, including kitesurfing, windsurfing, stand-up paddle and sailing.
This is a «unique and pioneering event at world level that brings together teams that will face each other and alternate between four different nautical sports – kitesurfing, windsurfing, stand up paddle and light sailing – for 12 hours without stopping», explains the organization.
The WaterKings «want to test the resistance again, the know-how and the teamwork of the most fearless in a challenge that will reveal who the true men and women of the sea are, rewarding those who overcome the challenge and crowning the fastest”.
From 12:00 on the 26th until 24:00, it will be 12 hours on the water, around a circuit with a well-defined objective: to complete 60% of the number of laps of the first ones and obtain the status of “Water Man/Woman” or aim to the top and win the “WaterKing” title.
Co-organized by Câmara de Lagos and Lufinha Sports Events, WaterKings «shows the qualities of the city of Lagos as a privileged destination for the practice of water sports, while offering athletes an innovative and daring challenge».
«The first two editions of WaterKings were a real success and the City Council decided to return to this 3rd edition. We are very committed and pleased to organize the event in Meia Praia again. We've already had an edition with little wind, another with a lot and you never know what to expect… events at sea are like that», says Francisco Lufinha, organizer of this challenge.
Applications for WaterKings are still open and can be done here
The third edition of WaterKings has the support of DocaPesca – Portos e Lotas, Marina Club Lagos Resort, Sopromar, Clube de Vela de Lagos, among other partners.
