The photography exhibition “Viagem ao Algarve Interior – Desertification and Depopulation of the Algarve”, by Telma Veríssimo, is already on display at the Interpretation Center of Vila do Bispo.

The exhibition comprises 31 panels depicting human faces, landscapes, various aspects of rural life, animals, life experiences and traditional arts, about to be lost. The images were captured in the municipalities of Alcoutim, Castro Marim, Loulé, Monchique, São Brás de Alportel and Silves.

The inauguration, this Monday, April 9, presided over by Rute Silva, councilor of Vila do Bispo City Council, was attended by the author and 23 other people, national and foreign.

At the opening of the exhibition, Telma Veríssimo highlighted the state of abandonment and oblivion that the interior of the Algarve is undergoing, with knowledge that is being irretrievably lost, in isolated places, where a population, mostly elderly, continues to stubbornly resist today's frenetic ways of life.

This exhibition will be open until the 27th of April, and can be visited from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 am to 15:30 pm.
