Algarve sailors brought four national champion titles in the Portugal Juniors and Absolute 2018 Championship, in sailing, which took place in Sesimbra between the 28th and 31st of March.

Beatriz Gago and Marta Fortunato (CIMAVilamoura / Clube de Vela de Lagos) won two gold medals in the 420 class, Lúcia Neto (Ginásio Clube Naval de Faro) and Daniela Miranda (Associação Naval do Guadiana) secured 1st place in the Laser 4.7 Female and Laser Radial Junior Female categories.

In addition to the two gold medals, the young people from Algarve secured the 8th position in the general classification, right behind the duo Manuel Fortunato/Frederico Batista, from Clube de Vela de Lagos. The youngsters from Lacobrigenses, despite not having achieved a place on the podium, continue to lead the national ranking of 420 Junior Men.

There were more Algarve athletes to secure podium places, namely Mariana Viegas (CV Lagos), who was second in the Laser Radial Junior Female class, sharing the stage with Daniela Miranda.

Julien Carter (Clube Naval de Olhão) and Martim Fernandes (GCN Faro) were ranked 2nd and 3rd, respectively, in the Laser 4.7 Male class. Martim Sancho (GCN Faro) was ranked 3rd in Radial Junior Male.
