The IV Urban Rehabilitation Week will take place between April 11th and 13th, in an initiative of the Portimão Council that will make TEMPO – Portimão Municipal Theater a privileged space for debate, with the participation of local and national experts, as well as an exhibition of works and urban animation.

This initiative is part of the Urban Rehabilitation Operation of the ARU-Centro Histórico de Portimão and results from the awareness, on the part of the municipality, that «currently rehabilitation is a sector of activity on the rise and constitutes a new impulse for regeneration urban urban areas'.

The opening session of the IV Week of Urban Rehabilitation is scheduled for April 11, at 14:45 pm, and will feature the participation of the mayor Isilda Gomes and vice-president Joaquim Castelão Rodrigues, who is responsible for Urban Rehabilitation, as well. as the president of the Executive Committee of the EG of IFRRU 2020, Abel Mascarenhas, and the president of the IHRU- Institute of Housing and Urban Rehabilitation, Alexandra Gesta.

Under the central theme of this first afternoon, the “Legal Framework and Financial and Territorial Management Instruments”, the debate will begin with a special approach on the “Regulatory Framework/Tax Benefits and Financing of Urban Rehabilitation through the IFRRU”, by Abel Mascarenhas, following the intervention of Paulo Dias, consultant of the PDM of Portimão, on “Urban Rehabilitation in the Review of the PDM of Portimão”.

Then, there will be a public presentation of the Requalification Project of Largo Envolvente to the Igreja Matriz in Portimão, by architect Nuno Cruz, from the Portimão City Council.

This will also be the occasion not only to discover the “Dynamics of Rehabilitation: Western Lisbon SRU”, presented by the architect Margarida Bernardo, Urban Management Director Western Lisbon, but also the “Geoportal - the new SIM- Municipal Information System”, which will be presented by the geographer of the Municipality of Portimão, Catarina Tristão.

The afternoon of April 12th will be dominated by the debate on “Intelligent and Sustainable Urban Rehabilitation”, starting at 14:45 pm, with the presentation of “Good Practices in the Rehabilitation of Constructions”, by engineer José Paulo Costa, from company STAP-Repair, Consolidation and Modification of Structures, followed by the theme of the importance of “Energy Efficiency in the Rehabilitation of Buildings”, by engineer João Raposo, from the local company Âmago-Energia Inteligente, followed by the presentation of “Materials and Constructive Techniques in Diagnosis and Project” by Carlos AP Martins, professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Algarve.

The emblematic Jardim 1º de Dezembro, in Portimão, will deserve a very special look on this second day of the Urban Rehabilitation Week, when the Plan of Restoration Works for the Tile Set in that garden will be presented, by Andreia Machado, superior technician of Conservation and Restoration of the Museum of Portimão.

For his part, the architect Alexandre Pais, from the Museu Nacional do Azulejo, will present his “Interpretation of the Tile Set” of this garden, revealing the history and some interesting facts about these panels. After the session, a visit to the work in progress at Jardim 1º de Dezembro is scheduled.

To mark the beginning and end of these two afternoons of debates, musical presentations will take place by students from the Music Conservatory of Portimão – Joly Braga Santos.

On the night of April 13, at 21 pm, Contramaré, Associação Cultural de Portimão invites the population to participate in the SICKONCE show and embark on a sound journey of their own creation and live, with sampling techniques, synthesizers surrounded by machines, with Napoleão Mira as a special guest, who will enrich this performance with his poetry.

The show will take place at TEMPO's Blackbox, preceded by a projection of photographs on the aerial perspective of the Portimonense city by Bruno Fonseca – “Portimão seen from the sky”. The show is free to enter, but subject to room capacity.

During the fourth edition of the Urban Rehabilitation Week, in addition to the space for debate, a different perspective on Portimão will also be launched, through the various exhibitions on display at TEMPO- Teatro Municipal de Portimão: “Desenhar Portimão”, with works developed within the scope of Urban Sketchers Algarve Meeting in Portimão, “Chair Rehabilitation”, with works by 10th and 11th grade students of Plastic Expression at Manuel Teixeira Gomes Secondary School, “Details of Portimão I and II”, presenting works in watercolor and ink. -china carried out by 11th and 12th year students of the Visual Arts Course at Manuel Teixeira Gomes Secondary School, “Architecture Pathways at ISMAT”, with the work performed by students of several years of the Integrated Masters in Architecture course at Instituto Superior Manuel Teixeira Gomes (ISMAT), and also “Intervention in the Consolidated Urban Mesh of the City of Portimão”, showing works carried out by 4th grade students that of the Integrated Master's Course in ISMAT Architecture, from the current academic year 2017/2018.

The IV Urban Rehabilitation Week is an initiative integrated in the PARU Urban Regeneration Action Plan, financed by PO CRESC Algarve 2020 and also has the institutional support of the Parish Council of Portimão, ISMAT, Secondary School Manuel Teixeira Gomes, Urban Sketchers Algarve, Ordem dos Engenheiros – Southern Region, University of Algarve, AMAL, IHRU- Institute for Housing and Urban Rehabilitation, IFRRU- Financial Instrument for Urban Rehabilitation and Revitalization, Music Conservatory of Portimão- Joly Braga Santos and Ordem dos Arquitetos- Section South Region.

Also in terms of support, this initiative was also supported by Delta Cafés, A Casa da Isabel, Amor à Fatias, Glória &Silvestre, ERA- Imobiliária Portimão/Rocha, Garvetur, Mourinho Aluminio Windows, LEDS_GO, NEPELI and CIMPOR.
