The University of Algarve (UAlg) promoted its first Blue Energy Laboratory, where marine renewable energies and the Economy of the Sea were in the spotlight. The event brought together around 300 people, from companies, entrepreneurs, R&DT centres, Algarve municipalities, local and regional authorities, among others.

These laboratories, which are being run by CRIA – UAlg's Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer Division, «are composed of meetings and debates on Blue Energy, among the actors of the “Quadruple Helix”, which include companies, R&DT centres, public authorities and the population in general”, according to UAlg.

The actions take place within the scope of the “MAESTRALE” project, under the “INTERREG MED” program of the European Union. The activity of the laboratories «the holding of four meetings during the project, which will lead to two pilot projects in Blue Energy, which will be developed and supported by MAESTRALE».
