The Algarve Basketball Association's under-14 team was crowned national champion for the first time. The young people from the Algarve made history after beating Lisbon by 46-40, in the final of Albufeira Basketball Party, held at the EB 2,3 pavilion in Vale das Pedras, in this municipality.

To achieve the victory, the Algarve team had to work hard. At the end of the first period, the Algarve was losing by 28-15, but managed to recover the 13 points disadvantage and finish the game with six points more than Lisbon.

All thanks to the partial 15-5 and 16-7 achieved by the Algarve team in the second and third periods, respectively.

«The Algarve turned the matter around with a well-placed throw by Salvador Victo, 18 seconds before the horn, to isolate the new champions», according to the Portuguese Basketball Federation.
