Mértola will remember António Serrão Martins, the first mayor elected in democracy, from the 17th to the 29th of March. The program of commemorations includes cultural activities taking place in Mértola and Mina de S. Domingos.

As part of the «Remember Serrão Martins» initiative, the town of Mértola hosts the photography exhibition by João Cutileiro, at the Casa das Artes Mário Elias, as well as the theater play “Apareu a Margarida”, on the 17th of March, by the group theater BAAL 17, and also the show “Tango e Fado – Dois Puertos”, with Mariana Abrunheiro and Walter Hidalgo, on the 21st, both at the Marques Duque cineteatro.

On the same 21st, in Largo Vasco da Gama, remembering the beginning of spring, the Rural Market from the beginning of the XNUMXth century will take place.

The celebrations of «Remember Serrão Martins» end in Mértola, with the show “Poderia a Poesia”, by Gisela Cañamero, on the 22nd, at 21 pm, at the Municipal Library.

The Mina de S. Domingos Cineteatro receives, on March 23, at 21 pm, a session of the municipal initiative “films com conversa”, with the screening of the film “Povo que canta”, by Michael Giacommetti, with the participation of Tiago Pereira , who will talk about the project “Portuguese music liking her own”.
