Otelo Saraiva de Carvalho, the operational strategist of the 25th of April 1974, will participate in the colloquium “The Flower of Liberty – The Liberating Dawn”, on the 13th of April, at 18 pm, at the GNR headquarters, in Faro.
The military officers from Abril Martins Guerreiro and Rosado Luz are also taking part in this colloquium.
This is one of the initiatives of the commemorations of Faro the 44th anniversary of the 25th of April, which also includes concerts and exhibitions.
«Faro In this year of 2018, it assumes a respectful and didactic role in the memory of April 1974. More than the solemn ceremonies, sporting events and spectacles, Faro I wanted to extend in a significant and dignified way the evocation of April and its noble memory”, explains the local authority.
From the outset, the committee for organizing the commemorations, whose curatorship is assured by the singer, poet and constituent deputy, Afonso Dias, decided to involve the county's schools, performing a “little April 25” in the format of musical history and a large number of recitals on the “Constitution of 1976 – Freedom in Law”, but also with the holding of a series of colloquia that bring to the city big names.
For example, Teresa Rira Lopes, in a tribute that her city pays her, accompanied by Carina Infante do Carmo, from the University of Algarve, and Fernanda Guerra, from Casa Álvaro de Campos, participate in a colloquium, on April 6th, at 18 pm , at the Municipal Library of Faro.
Rui Pato and Francisco Fanhais will evoke Zeca Afonso, who lived in Faro, in a colloquium on April 16, at 18 pm, at the regional delegation of the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth.
Francisco George, Irene Flunser Pimentel, António Pina and Carreira Marques will speak, in turn, about the achievements of Abril and the Constitution in the domains of local power, health, education and freedom. It will be on the 10th of April, at 18:30 pm, in the City Hall of Faro.
