The Maritime Authority warned this Monday the population of "the imminent danger of the collapse of the cliffs", "particularly on the southern coast of the Algarve".

In a statement, the Maritime Authority warns that the cliffs are "very unstable due to bad weather that has been felt in recent days."

"Some cliffs and rocky coasts were targeted by the direct action of ocean waves and infiltration caused by rain, which ended up causing a great deterioration", so they could collapse at any time.

Due to this danger, the Maritime Authority warns «the entire population of the Mainland, Madeira and the Azores, and in particular the southern Algarve coast, to move away from the cliffs and rocky coastal areas affected, avoiding walks both near the base and at the top of these places, complying with and respecting the signs and indications of the authorities».

In these last days, like the Sul Informação As shown in the photo above, many people have sought the coast to see the damage caused by the storm, ending up putting themselves in danger.
