Prime Minister António Costa participates this Saturday, March 24, in an action to clear the forest, starting at 9:00 am, at the site of Vermelhos, in Ameixial, municipality of Loulé.

In addition to the head of government, the participation in this action, which involves military personnel from the Army and forestry producers, is planned by Luís Capoulas Santos, minister of Agriculture, Forests and Rural Development.

"Assuming forest clearing as a priority for the success of the fire prevention and combat strategy, the Government seeks to mobilize the country for this important national cause, directly collaborating in the effort being developed by municipalities, companies and citizens to reduce the risk of fire,” says the statement from the Prime Minister's Office.

Through this initiative, it is also intended to clarify that the land clearing work will take place until May 31st. More than 20 members of the Government will participate in the action, in various parts of the country, in a forest cleanup action that will cover districts from the North to the South of the country.
