The Polis Ria Formosa Society took administrative possession of eight more houses in nuclei of Ilha da Culatra, four in the Farole others in the Hangares, this Tuesday. Precautionary measures presented by owners of another 16 houses who had been notified to hand them over prevented the entity from claiming 22 houses, as initially planned.

Polis technicians returned today to Ilha da Culatra, in the municipality of Faro, accompanied by a police contingent with about 40 elements, and, as had happened in the first wave of inaugurations, were received by dozens of people, who tried to prevent them from taking possession of the houses.

Despite the shouted slogans and some moments of tension, the administrative possession of the houses that did not come in with new measures ended up taking place. "Tomorrow, they should start bringing the machines, to tear them down," he told the Sul Informação, unhappy, Feliciano Júlio, president of the Associação da Ilha do Farol of Santa Maria.

This association, as well as that of Residents of Hangares, had been making an effort, since the arrival of the last letters from the Polis, to prevent the houses from being handed over to the Polis. And the solution went through the courts again, taking into account that, despite the attempts, the representatives of the owners of the houses were unable to reach the Minister of Environment.

According to Feliciano Júlio, among the houses that were taken over by the Polis today, one is a first-class home, located in Hangares. “They are going to demolish the girl's house, who has nowhere to go. This is not justified in the XNUMXst century. They will create a homeless person», he lamented.

The president of the association of Farol also ensured that, at its core, it was scheduled to demolish «a house that has an appeal in progress at the Court of Appeal of Évora». And, he guarantees, despite "the court saying that this appeal has a suspensive effect", the Polis "did not want to comply with that order".

Now, says Feliciano Júlio, the associations will “wait for developments”.
