Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona and AC Milan scouts are expected at the 16th edition of the UEFA Development Tournament for under-8 teams, to be played from 19 to XNUMX February, in Vila Real de Santo António.

The Vila Real de Santo António Sports Complex hosts the VI edition of the UEFA Development Tournament of under-16 teams, proving, «once again, the quality of its sports infrastructure, sought after by top teams», says the Chamber of VRSA.

Taking into account the quality of the football played, the competition will attract, to Vila Real de Santo António, dozens of scouts from various clubs around the world, which could mean, for young players, the possibility of, in the near future, become part of the squads of the greats of European football.

It is expected in VRSA the presence of scouts (or in slang, scouts) of major European clubs such as Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan, Juventus, Arsenal and Valencia. This list is joined by coaches from the three big players in Portuguese football: Sporting, Benfica and Porto.

The event will take the form of a quadrangular tournament and bring together teams from Portugal, Germany, Holland and Italy. It is organized by UEFA and the Dutch Football Federation and is supported by the Portuguese Football Federation, the VRSA City Council and the VRSA Urban Management Society (SGU).

According to Conceição Cabrita, Mayor, “for many of these athletes, this competition, held in VRSA for the sixth consecutive year, represents a passport for the big European clubs and can open doors to an international career in high competition”.

The men's tournament takes place on the 8th, 10th and 12th of February, while the women's tournament takes place on the 15th, 17th and 19th of February.

It is estimated that each team participating in the UEFA Development Tournament of under-16 teams will bring to the VRSA Sports Complex around 35 elements (players, technical staff and staff) which, during the games phase, will be housed in several hotel units in the county.

The choice of Vila Real de Santo António for this competition is a sign of the recognition of the quality and projection of the VRSA Sports Complex, a structure that has attracted events of media interest – such as the Algarve Cup or European Athletics Champion Clubs Cup – and dozens of internships for national and international teams.
