"Elitist Communication Design?" is the topic that will be debated this Tuesday, February 20, from 18 pm, simultaneously, in Loulé, Évora, Lisbon, Porto and also in the cities of Funchal and Vila Nova de Famalicão, which will participate, for the first time, in this initiative by Acesso Cultura.

In Loulé, the debate takes place at Loulé Design Lab, Cerca do Convento Espírito Santo, and will be moderated by designer Andreia Pintassilgo.

António Lacerda, professor at the University of Algarve and member of the National Association of Designers, Fred Philips, from Atelier do Sul, Luís Caracinha, communication designer, and Verónica Guerreiro, communication and product designer and resident of Loulé Design Lab are the guests.

“Our last debate had been about elitism in culture. One of the participants raised the issue of design and elitist communication. It understands it as elitist when it does not facilitate access and, on the contrary, hides information, because the intention is to communicate only with a few, the experts. Therefore, we found it interesting to focus our discussion on the role of design (and communication in general) in accessing information, in creating a visual identity and in a dissemination practice that not only values aesthetics, but also functionality. . We also want to discuss the contents of the dissemination materials themselves», refers the organization.

Admission is free.
