The Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) expresses, «with redoubled sadness», its «deepest regret» for the death of Carlos Silva e Sousa, current mayor of Albufeira.

The RTA stresses that it was with «a feeling of deep regret» that it received this morning «the news of the premature death of Carlos Silva e Sousa, a partner and friend of the Executive of the Tourism Entity».

«The disappearance of Carlos Silva e Sousa is a profound loss for all those who had the privilege of dealing personally with the mayor, for Albufeira and for the whole Algarve. Today we have lost a man with a great sense of ethics and integrity, friendliness and generosity,” laments Desidério Silva, president of the Algarve Tourism Region and former mayor of Albufeira.

"In this moment of pain, the RTA conveys the most heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of the man who leaves an exemplary trajectory of public dynamism and democratic culture."

RTA recalls, in its note of regret, that Carlos Silva e Sousa, 60, was "married and the father of two children" and had been "elected last October for a second term at the head of the Albufeira municipality".

Carlos Silva e Sousa «has always shown a strong dedication to the Algarve region, as president of the Albufeira Municipal Assembly for three consecutive terms, as a member of the Intermunicipal Assembly of the Algarve Intermunicipal Community, and even when he was president of the Confraria dos Enófilos e Gastronomos do Algarve », adds the RTA.
