The petanque champions in 2017 will be honored on the 24th of February, at a gala to be held in Faro. 

Thus, the best in the sport will be awarded trophies, as a form of homage.

Among them will be the Clube Desportivo da Nave, from Monchique, the current national petanque champion.

João Paulo Rebelo, Secretary of State for Youth and Sports, will be present at this gala.

 

The president of the Olympic Committee of Portugal José Manuel Constantino and the vice-president of the Confederation of Sports of Portugal Ilídio Trindade are other figures confirmed for the ceremony.

One of the highlights of the ceremony is to award the Medal of Merit of the Portuguese Federation of Petanca, Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Chamber of Faro, and Pedro Ribeiro, mayor of Almeirim.
