This Sunday, the Moroccan Soufiane El Bakkali and the Portuguese Carla Salomé Rocha won the main events of the 41st Cross International das Amendoeiras em Flor in athletics, held on the Açoteias track, in Albufeira.

In the men's competition (9.350 meters), the 22-year-old athlete from Morocco, specialist in 3.000 meters obstacles, who is training in the Algarve for the first time, confirmed his credits as the main favorite.

Its main opponent was Rui Pedro Silva, who finished in 2nd place, with 8 seconds more than the winner.

Completing the podium, an athlete from an Algarve team: Soare Nicolae, from GD Pic Nic, from Vila Real de Santo António, with a time of 29,01 minutes.

In the women's race, Carla Salomé Rocha (Sporting) was the big winner, having dominated until the end of the 6.150 meters race. The podium was completed with the Dutch Andrea Deelstra (2nd) and Mónica Silva, who runs as individual (3rd).

The Algarve's Ana Dias, who runs for the CD Areias de São João, was ranked 5th.

El Bakkali, fourth at the 2016 Olympic Games and second at the 2017 World Championships in the 3.000 meters hurdles, is training in the Algarve to prepare for his participation in the summer events of the Diamante League, the main track circuit in international athletics.
