The Grupo dos Amigos de Lagos has a new headquarters, on Cândido dos Reis street.
The premises were provided by the City Council.
At the time of signing the protocol and handing over the keys, the members of the Grupo dos Amigos de Lagos were present Maria Joaquina Matos, Mayor of Lagos, Joaquim Lobo de Miranda, chairman of that group, and Aníbal Leal (secretary).
The representatives of the Grupo dos Amigos de Lagos consider this to be "the best birthday gift (the group celebrates its 25th anniversary this year)", as they want "the new facilities to be a meeting point for the Lacobrigenses and a starting point for better develop the association's sociocultural project».
The Municipality of Lagos provided, free of charge and for a period of ten years, renewable for periods of five years, these facilities.
In turn, the Amigos de Lagos may carry out any works deemed necessary for the pursuit of their purposes (after approval by the Municipality), bearing all charges for the property, as well as expenses relating to its operation and/or conservation.
The inauguration is scheduled for the 27th of January, the date on which the 445th anniversary of the elevation of Lagos to the status of a city and the 25th anniversary of the Grupo de Amigos de Lagos is commemorated.
