The concert “Barocke Musikalische Brüchen”, with Rafael Reis, on organ, and Joana Godinho (singing) will take place this Friday, January 26, from 21 pm, at Igreja da Misericórdia, in Tavira. The initiative is part of the “Cycle of Historical Organs”.

The first edition of this cycle intends to celebrate the instrumental heritage of the historical organs of the Algarve region by being present in the four churches with historical reconstruction organs faithful to the original and which are still in operation, as well as paying homage to the Bishop of Algarve, D. Francisco Gomes of Avelar (1739-1816).

The singing and organ duo of mezzo-soprano Joana Godinho and organist Rafael Reis, appeared in 2006 at the Academia de Música Eborense, and aimed to make known, essentially, the Iberian repertoire, in the XNUMXth, XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries.

The project, which is presented today, focuses, above all, on the repertoire of composers from the late Renaissance and German and Portuguese baroque, namely, JS Bach, G. Scheidt, Manuel Rodrigues Coelho and Carlos Seixas.

The Historical Organs Cycle is an organization of the Academy of Music of Lagos, which counts on the collaboration of the Municipality of Tavira and the local Santa Casa da Misericórdia.
