The Câmara de Lagos organizes an action of dynamism and tourist promotion, on the 26th of January, focused on the presentation of Lagos and the Algarve as «excellent tourist destinations all year round».
This initiative, which takes place from 10:00 am, in the Auditorium of Paços do Concelho XXI century, appears «with a view to sustainability and the presentation of alternative products to the sun and beach».
The action, which will count, at the opening session, with the presence of Maria Joaquina Matos, mayor of Lagos, and Desidério Silva, president of the Algarve Tourism Region, «intends to promote the interaction and exchange of knowledge and experiences between professionals in the field of tourism», explains the municipality.
This initiative, which takes place for the seventh consecutive year, includes a panel of speakers who will present and promote activities that complete the traditional tourist offer of the municipality.
In fact, «tourism is a strategic and core factor in the development of the Portuguese economy, and in particular in the Algarve region».
Therefore, there is “this awareness of the importance and growth of the sector but also the concern to ensure its sustainability, a situation that should be everyone's responsibility, with a view to enhancing this tourist destination, through responsible management of resources in defense of present and future generations».
In this sense, the Chamber has been carrying out actions to stimulate and promote tourism, aimed (preferably) at interpreting guides, tour operators, hotel and restaurant units, tourist entertainment companies and others players sector, operating in the area of the municipality.
