The Algarve male beginners handball team qualified for the final phase of the Regional Handball Teams Tournament. The Algarve team won the two matches in Zone 3 of this competition, which took place on the 7th of January, at Pavilhão Municipal Jacinto Correia, in Lagoa.
In addition to the Algarve Handball Association, the Lisbon Handball Association and the Setúbal Handball Association participated in this series. The race was played in the TxT system, one round, with the Algarve team winning six points.
In the first game, the Algarve Handball Association beat its Lisbon counterpart by 18-17 and, in the second, it beat the Setúbal Handball Association by 34-18. In the other game played, the Lisbon team beat Setúbal by 34-16.
The first classified qualified directly for the final phase, with the other regional teams going to compete in an intermediate phase.
