Associação Almargem has made available on its website the digital publications “Natural Heritage of Vale da Asseca” and “Cadoiço e Foz do Almargem”, produced within the scope of REASE project (Environmental Education Network for Ecosystem Services), with the collaboration of experts in different areas.

The publication “Natural Heritage of Vale da Asseca”, 40 pages, «intends to disseminate the values of geodiversity and biodiversity of this area of the municipality of Tavira, in order to make the authorities and local populations aware of the urgency of preserving this territory with unique characteristics in the Algarve», according to Almargem.

The second publication, with 48 pages and called “Cadoiço and Foz do Almargem”, «aims to make a preliminary characterization of the areas covered by the hydrographic basins of the Fonte Santa and Carcavai streams (Loulé), sustaining the need to formally protect the respective coastal areas (Trafal and Foz do Almargem) and to create more solid bases for the current municipal project, promising but still somewhat hesitant, for an agricultural and urban park on the slopes of Cadoiço».

The places these two publications focus on inspired other initiatives of the REASE project, namely Meetings/debate, a in Tavira and another in Loule, as well as hiking in the Vale da Asseca, in Tavira, that the Sul Informação followed, and in Cadoiço Valley.

Almargem also announced that it has also started to launch a "Fresh Water Invertebrates Guide", «hoping that it can arouse the interest of many people, young or less young, in this topic and contribute to a more effective protection and conservation of freshwater habitats in our country and, in particular, in the Algarve».

«Authored by the biologist and his associate João António Santos, this publication, initially conceived as a pocket guide in paper edition, which, given the breadth of the topic addressed, never made any progress, now takes on a digital format. There are no less than 14 volumes that will be made available throughout 2018. They describe the most representative species of the invertebrate fauna that inhabit our rivers, streams, ponds and lakes, along with identification keys for the main groups,” he described.

These publications, available in PDF format, can be downloaded for free from the Almargem website..
