Adriano Pimpão, president of the Loulé Municipal Assembly, re-elected for a second term in the last municipal elections, was reappointed chairman of the Board of the Intermunicipal Assembly of the Intermunicipal Community of Algarve (AMAL).

Adriano Lopes Gomes Pimpão was born in Lisbon, on August 25, 1948, but long ago he elected Boliqueime, in the municipality of Loulé, to reside.

He has a degree in Finance from the ISEG of the Technical University of Lisbon and a PhD in Economics from the same University. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Economics from the University of Paris X-Nanterre.

He was regional director of Planning in the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission, as well as Secretary of State for Regional Development in the governments of António Guterres.

He was also rector of the University of Algarve and chairman of the Council of Rectors of Portuguese Universities.

He is a member of the Order of Economists and was president of the Food Bank against Hunger in the Algarve.

He is a full professor at the University of Algarve and chairman of the Advisory Board of the Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education. He is a member of the Economic and Social Council.

On October 19, 2013, he was sworn in as president of the Loulé Municipal Assembly and, on October 16, 2017, he was reinstated in his post.

The municipal deputies Joaquim Vairinhos, Helena Baptista and João Calçada Correia (PS), Mário Botelho and João Guerreiro (PSD) will also be part of this Intermunicipal Assembly, representing Loulé.

The Intermunicipal Assembly's main powers are to approve the plan and budget options, assess and vote on the accountability documents, elect the intermunicipal executive secretariat and deliberate on all matters aimed at pursuing the interests of the Intermunicipal Community.
